In April 2018, Jordan host one of the most interesting event in the Middle-east about trainings and education for paramedics and emergency professionals: IMEC 2018. We speak about it in a special podacast that EMSpedia start to record on may. Podcast are a new column of our magazine, to highlight the most important events in the world about education and we want to discover how the professional field are evolving, and what are the new ways to follow. The Jordan Paramedic Society is one of the most interesting example you could find of mixing cultural and technical skills from east and west, performing the way of implementing new technical skills, but applaying it on a specific field of operation which is different from the European one. IMEC 2018 was the occasion to see the situation.

IMEC 2018 has been the first International Medical Emergency Conference and we talk about it with Dr. Yanal Ajlouni, Health management specialist and Jordan Paramedic Society president . Dr. Aljouni ,  let us talk about IMEC 2018, this outstanding event based in Jordan and managed by your organization. Can you give us an introduction of this important event?  

I will introduce my society and the IMEC. In general it’s a new excellence programs organized as an unique event. We decide to define a standard that provide a new comprehensive overviews of lots research and activity that emergency professionals are implementing in our system, from the scenes transport techniques to the specialized medical and surgical care providers research.  This is a new and unique event in the regions and another particular aspect is the region. It’s the first time you can find an event like this in Jordan and you know the difference and the changes people are living in the international area. We are surrounded by unstable situation, and Jordan as a very stable Nation can provide the health education and the emergency services education through outside border.

Journalist:- Why is IMEC so important for pre-hospital care management and development? What can you say about this?

We can help physician in collect the new research and we can suggest a way to standardize the Jordans protocols. We can also find the way to implemented in the best way skills on ground. It is very important in particular for pre-hospital care management and development to receive the best – sustainable and continuous – medical trainings and education. We want to realize a yearly event because refreshments are also important and they take the last part of our project. There were not so many updates in the pre hospitals until now in our countries and the developing country around us.  We don’t want to still reamin in delay, and according to the global research community, following the most important country, we are looking to be on time with the international standardization. That means also neighbor’s physician can be prepared by Jordan professionals and face their situation in the best way.
